Más o Menos is an accessories line born from a friendship between Celeste Johnson and Mariah Palmer. What began as conversations in Celeste’s salon chair quickly evolved into a shared love of clothing, art, and mysticism. Inspired by mid-century surrealist art, especially the spirited friendship between Leonora Carrington and Remedios Varo, Celeste and Mariah entered into a collaboration as muse and maker, visionary and dreamer.

Living in Montana where utility often wins over fashion, they wanted to create a space for full expression through an accessories line, where each piece could represent more than something pretty but would carry its own energetic imprint via the plants, natural fibers, clay and metal, bringing its own life into the world through the maker and wearer. 

They found their dreams and visions melded seamlessly and each collection emerged from this space through synchronicities and shared time together in Mariah’s studio–molding clay, looking through fabric swatches and experimenting with various hand-stitching techniques. 

Although they share a sense of style, they balance each other with their unique imprints: Celeste, the maximalist (Más), and Mariah, the minimalist (Menos). Celeste brings her maximalism through visionary ideas and world–building, creating gatherings where people can fully express themselves, and through bold styling that helps people see something new in themselves. Mariah brings her minimalism through lots of solitude in her studio, where she naturally dyes and sews each piece by hand, editing out anything that doesn't work through the process and allowing the plants to come through with their own agency.
